We love to find new innovations in cycling so this week thrilled to have the new CycPlus AS2 Bike Pump to review. There is a wealth of bike pumps and CO2 cannister options around but electric pumps targetting cyclists are not so common. Read the full review from Annette who has been using the CycPlus AS2 over the past 6 weeks.

Summary of review of the CycPlus AS2 bike pump

Trivelo Score – 5/5

I really like this pump it’s compact and easy to use. I found it easy to use small enough to take out whilst cycling in your pocket. Using it is simple. You set your PSI connect and it pumps to the set PSI then stops. It really couldn’t be any simpler. Buy one now.

CycPlus AS2 bike pump

Pros

  • Really easy to use
  • Faster than you would expect for such a small unit
  • Rechargeable taking a charge in under an hour

Cons

  • Slightly noisy but no more than expected
  • Pretty costly at nearly £100 for a pump is a lot for the convenience
  • Will only handle 3 or 4 full tyre inflations so don’t have multiple punctures!

The CycPlus AS2 is a small matchbox size air compressor. It weighs in at 138g and is designed for cyclists but comes with different attachments to pump varies items (even footballs which my kids were very happy about).

Inside the plastic casing houses a 420mAh battery. The air compressor can inflate up to a maximum pressure of 120psi. It means I could test it even on my 23mm triathlon bike tyres that I use at around 100psi for races. The LED display is controlled with a series of buttons where you set the psi and connect to your tyres.

For a 25mm tyre up to 80psi this took around 60 seconds to fully inflate from flat. The final 10psi I found took about half the time to complete. The compressor is pretty noisy while you are using it and the device gets hot while in use. Make sure you allow it time to cool off before you crack on and pop it back in your back pocket of your jersey.

Would I buy this. Yes I would buy it and certainly consider it when packing for a touring cycling trip. Daily rides not so useful but having at home for regular bike maintenance is certainly a good fit.
