Summary of Rehook Cycling Gloves Review

Trivelo Score – 4 / 5

After a few rides the Rehook mitts feel solid and comfortable. But I don’t think they’re the ultimate choice for cyclists.

Introduction to Rehook

Rehook is not a brand that I’m overly familiar with – in fact, the first time that I had ever come across the brand was when Billy from Trivelo reached out to me to review a pair of their ‘Half Finger Gel Padded Cycling Gloves’ i.e. “mitts”!

First Impression of Rehook Bike Gloves

First impressions are that the mitts seem well made and they feel like they should last for a decent amount of time. The hook and loop fastening offers a nice comfortable and secure fit around the wrist and doesn’t cut into the base of my hand when I’m on the hoods. Given that’s it’s been pretty chilly over the winter, I’ve not had chance to test Rehook’s claims regarding the mitts’ ability to wick moisture away from my hands, but the thin material suggests that it might be true; we’ll have to wait for warmer weather to confirm though.

If you are looking for an alternative to using ZWIFT read our review of FulGaz. Indoor cycling that offers the unique feature of real life courses from the Ironman cycling routes.

Testing Rehook Bike Gloves

The timing of Billy’s request was really good because my favourite pair of mitts were on their way out. I’ve used mitts as my go to cycling gloves for a really long time and I never ride outdoors – except for when it’s really cold – without them. I have always preferred the most simple kind of mitts, and have used Madison’s Track Mitts for years. They don’t have Velcro or padding; they’re just a simple hardwearing mitt. The problem is they’re getting harder, if not impossible, to find now, which means that since getting the Rehooks, I’ve been using them fairly regularly.

Rehook cycling gloves palm padding

I decided to put these to the test on a couple of recent winter training rides. Now the roads of North Wales where I live are not pancake smooth, so they offer a decent chance to test the effectiveness of those gel pads in removing the dreaded road-buzz.

CycPlus is another challenger brand in the cycling world. Read our review of the CycPlus M2 bike computer and see if it can give Garmin a run for their money.

Rehook Bike Gloves Comfort while riding

Rehook launched these Gel Padded mitts in November 2023 and the company make a number of bold claims. These mitts are “the ultimate choice for cyclists”; constructed “using premium quality materials” and are designed “to elevate your cycling experience to the next level”. We shall see…

What I can say with confidence is that the gel padding does offer a decent amount of shock absorption and helps to reduce road buzz. My hands have not got numb or tingly after a longer ride which has helped to reduce fatigue. Whether that would be true on a ride longer than 2 hours I’ve not had chance to test yet. Because they are mitts with the fingers left exposed, they don’t compromise on dexterity or ‘feel’.

Rehook Bike Gloves Sizing

One thing to note – Rehook’s website says that they mitts fit true to size. I am not sure that’s 100% true; my hands are not overly large and I would ordinarily choose a ‘M’ size glove from Madison and other brands, but the size ‘L’ pair I’ve been testing do not feel baggy so I’m going to say that they size small…

Richard Brown

Like many people, Richard started in triathlon world by taking part in one of the popular Castle Series events at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire. He was part of a relay team, and because he was an average cyclist (who had done no swimming for years and who was not run fit!). He was nominated to ride the 40km cycle leg in his first triathlon and gone from strength to strength since then.

Im a fan of Sportful myself but Rehook a bit thicker. Which my be a good or bad thing depending on how much you like a heavier weight glove.
